There are many variations on government grant money that are available to citizens wishing to better their education. One that is specifically designed to be of assistance to working moms is Obama's Scholarships for Moms. This is a program that can be of real benefit to those single and or working moms who realize they need to bolster their education in order to obtain a better paying job.
Part of the Pell Grant Program, these mom scholarships are aimed at low income people on a need basis. To qualify is pretty basic and most who apply will stand an excellent chance of being approved. The following criteria apply:
- Grant amounts depend on how much the student can contribute (EFC) to family economics.
- The enrollment status, whether full or part time student.
- The cost of their attendance.
- Only one school per year may receive funds from the Federal Pell Grant.
- Does the student plan on attending college all year or only a partial year.
Students can apply at over fifty four hundred institutions of higher learning for these funds once they fill out a FAFSA or Free Application for Federal Student Aid application. The need basis is determined by several factors including, whether or not the student is independent (lives alone), has family of their own (married and/or with children), income amount (if any), income and assets of the students parents, also considered are the family size and if there are any other family members in school.
These grant funds, also known as Scholarships for Moms grant money, is awarded to the learning institutions, which then pass it on to attending students directly (usually in a check) at least twice each per each academic year or quarterly. This financial assistance is available to those who need to expand their education, obtain better, more fulfilling jobs, and better their lives.
